Boerderij Hoogenraad
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
- Pigs and poultry live free range: outdoors on pasture, in woodland or a run
Boerderij Hoogenraad is a beef farm on the Werkhovenseweg in Werkhoven that sells meat from its own Blonde d'Aquitaine cattle in its farm shop and through its webshop, Eetvandeboer.nl.
The cattle are kept on straw in an open barn, and in spring the nursing cows go out to graze together with their calves, which stay with their mothers. The beef carries the Beter Leven label with two stars, and the farm says the animals get no antibiotics and that feed and manure run in a loop on the farm. Besides cuts and meat packs of 5 or 10 kilos, the shop sells bone broth, pure beef fat, marrow bones, tongue, liver, heart and oxtail. The chicken is bought in from Polderhoen, a slower-growing Hubbard breed with three Beter Leven stars and organic status, and the organic pork comes from Kromme Rijn Vlees two streets away, where the pigs can go outside and root in the mud.
The shop is at the traffic lights and is open on Wednesday from 9:00 to 12:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 15:00, or by appointment. Meat packs can be ordered online for pickup, and their website also mentions delivery; individual cuts are sold only in the shop.
Hides from their own cattle are made into leather goods and cowhide rugs under the farm's own label, Koecci & cowboys.
