BoereGoed Kas en Shop
- Organic methods: no synthetic pesticides or fertiliser, not certified
BoereGoed Kas en Shop is a farm shop in Naaldwijk, set inside the foundation's own neighbourhood greenhouse (Buurtkas), where vegetables are grown and sold alongside produce from growers in the region.
Most of what the shop sells is grown in the Buurtkas, in the soil and with the seasons, and their website says no chemical-synthetic pesticides are used there. Whether synthetic fertiliser is also left out, we couldn't confirm. BoereGoed holds no organic certificate, which their website puts down to seed from conventional seed companies and the paperwork certification brings; what qualifies it here is the unsprayed growing in the greenhouse soil. The bought-in produce comes mostly from small growers nearby who are usually not certified, and some products, such as ginger, lemons and turmeric, are certified organic and marked as such at the product; when nothing local is available, produce is bought from abroad.
The shop in the greenhouse is open Monday from 12:00 to 17:00, Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 14:30. There is also a webshop and a weekly vegetable box (Buurtbox), delivered on Friday or Saturday in Westland, Midden-Delfland, Maassluis, Hoek van Holland and the south and west of The Hague, or collected from a pickup point. The box can be paused or cancelled at any time.
