De Jachthoeve
De Jachthoeve is a care farm on the Roekelse Zandweg in Wekerom with a pick-your-own soft-fruit garden, a farm shop and a tea room, where people with disabilities or a distance to the job market work with support.
The fruit garden covers 0.6 hectares with 44 varieties that ripen one after another, including raspberries, red, white and green gooseberries, red, blue and black currants, kiwi berries, honeyberries, blackberries, tayberries, boysenberries and plums, as well as Dutch strawberries and a flower-picking garden. The fruit is grown with reduced spraying, so it isn't included in our filters. Jam and dessert sauce are made from their own fruit and sold all year, and the shop sells honey from the bees that pollinate the garden, eggs, dried sausage and nuts, which we haven't checked.
The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 to 16:00. From June to the end of November you can pick fruit yourself during opening hours, or buy it in punnets in the shop; for larger amounts, phone ahead. Cakes can be ordered a week in advance, and there is a webshop for their herb mixes made without additives.
Because the varieties ripen from May through November, the garden gives the care-farm workers fruit to pick for most of the year.
