Eieren-Automaat.nl is the egg vending machine of Boerderij Klein Overeem, an organic laying-hen farm with 24,000 white hens on the Utrechtseweg in Renswoude.
The machine sells the farm's own white eggs, laid the same day, in boxes or on trays. The hens live in three barns and are let outside every day from 10:00 until dark, except when an avian-flu housing order keeps them in. Their website describes the eggs as organic; the certificate we found in the register is in the name of Klein Overeem Pluimvee B.V., at the same address. The machine also sells Frieslander and Bildtstar potatoes in 5 kg bags, bought from a grower on clay soil.
The machine is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 to 21:00. It takes coins and €5 or €10 notes, giving change up to €10, as well as contactless payment.
The hens are bred organically and eat organic feed, and inside the barns they move about freely, with feeders, drinkers and perches spread through the space.
