Geitenhouderij Ons Verlangen
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
- No synthetic pesticides or fertiliser (certified)
Ons Verlangen is an organic dairy and care farm of about 70 hectares in the peat meadows at Zunderdorp, on the northern edge of Amsterdam, which sells its own dairy from a farm vending machine on the Liergouw.
Since June 2015 the farm has made its own dairy from the milk of its cows, which graze on grass with a small amount of organic feed pellets added. From that milk come pasteurised milk, buttermilk, yoghurt, quark (kwark), butter and farm cheese (boerenkaas). The machine also sells goat cheese, organic eggs, meat, home-made jam, onions and potatoes; where the goat cheese, eggs and meat come from we couldn't confirm. The farm is certified organic (SKAL); we found certificates for Melkveehouderij Ons Verlangen B.V. at the farm on the Broekergouw and for Ons Verlangen onroerend goed B.V. at the vending address.
The vending machine at Liergouw 68 is open every day from 8:00 to 20:00, and on weekdays from 9:30 to 14:30 a member of staff or one of the farm's care clients is there to help. The dairy is also delivered by refrigerated van to shops including Landmarkt De Wou, Boerderij Achtervennen, Boerderijwinkel Arken AE and the Vokomokum food cooperative.
The farm also keeps sheep, horses, chickens, goats, rabbits and pigs, and around 40 care clients (hulpboeren) work alongside the family, including on the nature land the farm maintains around Zunderdorp.
