HARM's Hoeve
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
- Pigs and poultry live free range: outdoors on pasture, in woodland or a run
HARM's Hoeve is a farm on the Westerkanaaldijk in Malden, at the edge of Nijmegen, whose farm shop sells beef, pork and eggs from its own animals.
The beef comes from Blonde d'Aquitaine cows that graze in the meadow in summer and spend the winter in an open round barn; they eat mainly grass, hay and concentrate, sometimes with brewers' grains from De Brouwtoren in Nijmegen. The pigs live indoors on straw. The eggs come from 249 hens in a mobile henhouse (Kippenkar) that is moved to a new pasture every week, so grass is part of their diet. Chicken comes from Betsy's Kip in Groesbeek, which their website describes as outdoor chicken, not yet confirmed. The farm packs its own meat, all vacuum-packed and frozen, and the shop also stocks cheese and yoghurt from Kaasboerderij de Diervoort in Wijchen.
The shop is open Friday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00. You can also order online and have meat delivered in Nijmegen, Heumen, Mook en Middelaar, Groesbeek, Beuningen and Wijchen, free above a minimum order; the meat is also sold at Kaasboerderij de Diervoort. An egg subscription gives you a card for 520 eggs to collect whenever you like.
The mobile henhouse runs on solar panels on its roof, and because it moves every week the hens manure the pasture themselves.
