Landwinkel De Zandroos
- Cattle, sheep or goats graze on pasture in the grazing season
- Pigs and poultry live free range: outdoors on pasture, in woodland or a run
Landwinkel De Zandroos is a farm shop at a fruit farm on the Van Heemstraweg in Afferden, in the Land van Maas en Waal, that sells beef and pork from Kloosterboerderij van Buuren alongside fruit from its own orchard.
The meat is what brings the shop into the guide: beef and pork from Kloosterboerderij van Buuren, a farm whose meat met our criteria. Which cuts are stocked, we couldn't confirm. The shop also sells chicken from De Polderhoen, not yet confirmed. The apples, pears, plums and cherries come from the farm's own orchard and the strawberries from a grower nearby; how the orchard is sprayed and fertilised, their website doesn't say. The vegetables and the rest of the fruit are bought in. Since 2007 the shop has been part of the Landwinkel cooperative of Dutch farm shops, which exchange products, so it also stocks regional products from elsewhere in the country.
The shop is open Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 17:00. In autumn you can pick your own apples, and the lunchroom Catootje next to the shop serves coffee, lunch and high tea.
