Imkerij BijDaan
Imkerij BijDaan is a beekeeping business in Schaarsbergen, Arnhem, that keeps about 450 bee colonies for pollination and honey and sells honey and beekeeping supplies from its own shop.
The shop carries 19 honeys, among them flower honey (also in a 4 kg pack of Dutch flower honey), Veluwe heather honey and heather comb honey, forest, rapeseed, clover, lime and Himalayan balsam honey, and acacia and chestnut. Where the hives stand, and which of these honeys come from their own colonies and which are bought in, we couldn't confirm.
The shop is at Koningsweg 35H-1, in building H on the IPC Groene Ruimte business site; you drive straight on to the back, past the open-sided barn, and turn left. It is open Wednesday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 13:00, and on Monday and Tuesday by appointment. Their webshop sends the honey anywhere in the Netherlands.
The business began as a pollination beekeeper and grew from 30 colonies to about 450 in five years, and the colonies are still rented out for pollination for 20 weeks each year before they are used for honey.
