KRUIM Natuurbrood
- No synthetic pesticides or fertiliser (certified)
KRUIM Natuurbrood is a one-baker sourdough bakery in Culemborg that bakes French-style loaves with natural leaven and organic stone-ground flour, baked on a stone oven floor.
No bread improvers, baker's yeast or fast kneading machines are used; instead the leaven goes in young and the dough is mixed warm, which brings out a sweeter flavour. The range includes a country loaf, wholemeal spelt, spelt with kamut, spelt with pumpkin, a grain-and-seed loaf and an olive bread. The bakery is certified organic (SKAL); we found it in the register.
There is no bakery shop of its own, so the loaves are sold loose at Stadsboerderij Caetshage, BijBio Naturijn and Besseling Deli in Culemborg and at Lingeloods Paradijs in Asperen. They can also be ordered online by Monday 22:00 for Wednesday or by Thursday 22:00 for Saturday, ready packed for collection at the Caetshage farm shop. Besides bread, KRUIM sells flour and supplies a number of restaurants and cafés.
The wheat flour is milled in the bakery's own mill from wheat that in 2026 comes from De Terp in Erichem, while the spelt and rye flour is bought in from De Graanbroeders.
