Oogst van Eigen Erf is a dairy farm of 42 hectares in Stoutenburg where about 60 Holstein cows supply a raw-milk tap that is open every day.
The milk is sold raw, cooled to 4°C straight after milking, from cows that are outside for much of the year on the 19 hectares of pasture around the farm. It keeps a few days in the fridge; the food safety authority advises boiling raw milk before use. There is also soft-serve made with the farm's milk, jam and chutney from its own fruit, and a raw-milk cheese, not yet confirmed as its own. The meat comes from Belgian Blue heifers, which grow up with the dairy calves on hay and the farm's own grass and go out to pasture from nine months, with an open barn for shelter, and from Bonte Bentheimer pigs, which go outside at a month old to a patch of ground to root in, with some feed added. The meat is sold frozen.
The milk house with the tap and a vending machine opens daily from 8:00 to 20:00. The farm shop, for meat and local products, opens on Wednesday from 13:00 to 16:30, Friday from 15:30 to 17:30 and Saturday from 11:00 to 16:00.
After two years on the farm, each heifer is taken to the butcher by the farmers themselves.
