Slagerij van der Geer

Slagerij van der Geer is a butcher's shop on the Doctor Slotemaker de Bruïneplein in Veenendaal that also runs a large webshop delivering meat across the Netherlands.

The pork comes from Livar Buitenvarkens (outdoor pigs) and the chicken from Polderhoen; both are labels that pool several farms rather than single farms, and their website says all the meat it sells comes from animals that are always outside. Beyond fresh cuts, the shop makes a chicken bone broth and chicken burgers with the organs minced in, and it adds no E-numbers, sugar, grains, soy or gluten to its products. It also sells Maine Anjou beef and veal, heath-sheep lamb (heideschaap), laying-hen meat, free-range turkey, wild pheasant, wild-caught sea fish and raw A2 yoghurt and kefir, none of which we have yet traced to a farm.

The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 8:00, closing at 17:30 on weekdays and 16:30 on Saturday. The webshop lists more than 800 products, delivered in person on fixed routes through the Gelderse Vallei, the Veluwe and Flevopolder, Nijmegen, Rotterdam and Den Haag above a minimum order, or sent frozen anywhere in the country by parcel service.
