Buitenhorst Vers & Smakelijk

Buitenhorst Vers & Smakelijk is a farm shop, restaurant and catering business on the Meentweg in the De Kraats area of Bennekom, set up in 2016, where young people with autism gain work experience in the shop, kitchen and restaurant.

What they make themselves is baked goods, from biscuits to cakes, all made by hand in their own kitchen. Most of the shop is stocked from other producers in the region: farm dairy from De Ambachtshoeve, meat and cheese from Boerderij het Binnenveld, grass-fed meat from Zorg Natuur, cheese and ghee from Remeker in Lunteren, bread from a bakery in Ede, smoked eel and salmon from Lunteren, local honey, and seasonal vegetables, white asparagus and strawberries. We haven't checked these suppliers ourselves.

The shop is open Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 to 16:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 15:00, and vending machines by the road are open from early morning into the evening, card payment only. You can also order through their webshop, by phone or by email, with pickup at the shop or home delivery around Bennekom, Ede, Renkum, Wageningen, Rhenen and Veenendaal.

The shop sits inside the Binnenveld, and their cycling picnics start and end there with routes through the Binnenveldse Hooilanden nature area.
