EET-Wageningen
- No synthetic pesticides or fertiliser (certified)
EET-Wageningen is a market garden and grain farm on the Wageningse Eng, started at the end of 2020 by a former researcher and arable farmer, who grows vegetables and grain in the open ground for local sale.
The vegetables grow on the Geertjesweg and on the grounds of care farm De Hoge Born, in narrow strips with flower mixtures sown between them as cover for natural predators, and the grain grows on scattered plots across the Eng with flowering field margins and plots of seed crops for birds. The soil isn't ploughed, beds are never driven over by a tractor, and green manures follow each crop to keep the ground covered through winter. The rotation runs over seven crop groups, so cabbages, leafy crops and legumes, roots, onions and leeks, potatoes, fruiting crops like squash and sweetcorn, and a resting mix of grass, clover and herbs each return to the same strip only every seven years. The farm is certified organic (SKAL), which we found in the register, and their website says each plot is either certified or in conversion.
The vegetables are sold in the shop at De Hoge Born, at the StreekWaar stall on the Wageningen Saturday market, and as a weekly box subscription during the season, collected on Monday or Thursday and paid monthly for the boxes actually taken, so holiday weeks cost nothing. In 2025 the boxes started in mid-June.
