Herenboerderij Nieuw Bureveld is a cooperative mixed farm of about 12.5 hectares in De Bilt, owned since 2022 by around 230 member households, who employ two professional farmers to grow their vegetables, fruit and herbs and raise beef and pork for those who want meat.
No synthetic fertiliser or pesticides are used. The members decide together what is grown and how, and working groups of members help with the pigs, the greenhouse, the orchard, a pick-your-own garden and biodiversity on the farm. Beef and pork go out from time to time as a meat package for members who have chosen meat; how the cattle are kept and what the animals eat in winter isn't confirmed yet.
There is no shop. Members pay a one-off contribution to join, refunded when they leave and a new member takes their place, plus a monthly fee for vegetables and fruit, with meat as an option. Most vegetables are harvested on Friday, and every Saturday members collect their share at the farm, with full bags in summer and less in winter. A two-month trial subscription with five Saturday harvests, collected between 10:00 and 13:00, runs until the end of October, and guided tours take place on the second Saturday of the month.
The farm now lies within the boundary of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park.
