Plukkerij Framblij
- Organic methods: no synthetic pesticides or fertiliser, not certified
Plukkerij Framblij is a family fruit farm on the Zwartendijk in Monster, in the Westland, where visitors pick their own fruit in season and a stall sells what is grown there.
The farm grows about fifteen kinds of fruit, among them raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, cherries, blackberries, redcurrants, peaches, plums, grapes, apples, pears, tayberries, Japanese wineberries and gooseberries, and these days vegetables as well. Their website says the fruit and vegetables on the stall are entirely unsprayed. It also says the farm deliberately works organically but has never applied for SKAL certification, because it is labour-intensive and expensive. The stall also sells home-made jam and syrup, a sambal, fruit ice lollies, frozen one-kilo bags of fruit for jam-making and honey from a beekeeper, though whether the jam and syrup are made only from their own fruit isn't stated.
Pick-your-own runs from early June to the end of the autumn school holiday, and booking through their website is required; what is ready to pick varies, so the farm posts updates. The stall is open every day from 8:00 to 20:00 in season, with the week's offer posted on Facebook, and gift boxes of fruit can be ordered.
