In the Netherlands, pick-your-own season is in season May to October, at its best in June, July, September and October. November is outside the Dutch season for pick-your-own season.
Pick-your-own farms open with the strawberries in late May or June, go on through cherries and soft fruit in July, and finish with apples and pumpkins in September and October. Each farm opens for its own crops only, so check before you drive.
Farms post opening days and what is ripe on their website or social media, often week by week.
Take your own containers and go early in the day. Pick fruit that comes away easily; it does not ripen further at home.
